How we build (and keep building) a top-notch team.
While anyone can hire more people, we know that a team of leaders must continue to evolve and grow or it won’t be leading for long. If we want to continue to lead our industry, we need to train our replacements. We see it as our job to cultivate the next generation of talent so that our clients enjoy uninterrupted support and fulfilling relationships for decades to come.
We didn’t hire interns because we needed more people to make coffee.
Internships have long been used (abused) as cheap labor. We see interns as future talent and leadership.
Our popular internship program is a structured educational experience. Here’s how it works:
- We select a handful of people to work with, train, and help guide toward the next step in their careers (last year, 90 people applied for 4 spots).
- One or two interns may be selected to join the NCA Financial team, at which point they begin a 5-year residency program.
- During the residency program, they become what we call paraplanners, supporting and contributing to our client-facing teams, building rapport, offering insights, and refining their education and training.
You don’t need to be a finance major to join us.
We value education—and not just one kind, either. If you’ve thrived in a learning environment, you’ll do well here no matter what you majored in.
Our team members have studied TV and radio management, marketing, business logistics, and even fitness.
Simply put, we’re looking for learners. And we’re ready to teach them this business from the ground up.
